The PACISE Executive Board met at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania on March 27th, 1998. Erik Wynters, President, convened the Board at 5:10 pm.
Present: Thomas Cunningham (Indiana), James Emert (East Stroudsburg), David Hutchens (Millersville), Joseph Molnar (Edinboro), Mary Robinson-Slaby (Mansfield), Joseph Thomas (Kutztown), Deborah Whitfield (Slippery Rock), Erik Wynters (Bloomsburg), Joseph Wyatt(Clarion).
The minutes of the Executive Board meeting of September 26th, 1997 were approved.
A treasurer's report showing a balance of $2,209.29 was accepted.
The Executive Board approved the following slate of officers for 98-99:
These names will be presented to the general membership on March 28th.
Copies of the application form for the PACISE achievement award for teaching computing were distributed. PACISE representatives should send copies of these to their respective Education Colleges.
For the first time, PACISE will be hosting a summer workshop. The four-and-a-half day workshop topic will be Microsoft's Visual C++ and be held from August 10th to August 14th in Kutztown. The cost of this workshop is $200; more information may be obtained by contacting Joe Thomas (thomas@kutztown.edu).
The issue of inviting other programming teams to attend the PACISE programming contest was discussed. It was noted that:

The 1999 Spring PACISE conference will be held in Millersville. Two committees to assist with the conference were created: the programming contest committee will include Dave Hutchens and Michael Conlon, the Program/Publicity committee will include Deborah Whitfield and John Arch.
Joe Thomas, treasurer, suggested that the executive board increase the institutional dues to $80 if the by-laws permit the board to make such a change. The motion to raise the dues passed (7 for, 2 opposed).
[Secretaries note: The institutional dues of $50 are in the organization by-laws and any amendment to the by-laws must be provided to the membership six weeks prior to the annual meeting].
A committee consisting of Thomas Cunningham, and James Emert was created to examine the PACISE constitution and by-laws. This committee will make recommendations for changes. This committee will examine the number of members that must be present to conduct business, and placing the control of the organization with the board. It was noted that at any given annual meeting, the bulk of the faculty present are from the hosting school.
The Next Executive Board meeting will be held in Milesburg, PA on a Friday in September at 4:00 pm. The exact date of the meeting will be announced by Erik Wynters.
