Week 1

Digest: I got a VM running Squid up with a rough version of the new content filtering solution. I did a lot of physical cleanup of the blue room. I finalized four methods of remote client-independent access and met with the project manager and others to demo them.

Week 2

Digest: I finished troubleshooting and fixing all problems with the Squid server and put it in use in the test lab. WUG is now in the test lab. I prepped the blue room for lots of moves during the maintenance window. I gathered documentation and reconstructed the WAN emulator

Week 3

Digest: This week I focused a lot on documentation and putting in place measures for maintenance of the blue room when I am gone. A lot of physical changes happened. Several machines are being virtualized. Their hardware will be decomissioned or repurposed as VM hosts where disk space allows. I learned a great deal about routes and FreeBSD. I will be exploring the F5 FirePass for possibly IEEE 802.1x-compliant NAC.
