Links to Information
on Careers and Job-Hunting in
Mathematics
(for undergraduates)
This page is a list of links to the largest on-line sources of
mathematical career information pertinent to undergraduates.
Each link or group of links is briefly annotated with descriptions of what it contains
and how best to use it.
I've also tried to give credit where credit is due to the organizations or individuals that maintain these sites.
Note that AMS is the American Mathematical Society,
MAA is the Mathematical Association of America,
and SIAM
is the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
- Lots of career and job-hunting links (not just for mathematicians)
- The MAA site has links to articles about topics such as
interviewing and resume-writing for math majors.
- The MAA site also has links to information about choosing a graduate school.
- Concrete details about many
different kinds of jobs you can do with a math degree!
- Archive of questions asked of monthly
featured mathematicians through the AMS
"Forum" service.
- Unfortunately, these links seem not to be frequently updated any more.
- More profiles of math and mathematicians in specific jobs
- Online version of 1991 brochure of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM)
- Additional information about starting a career in mathematics
- Also contains links relevant to established professionals
-
Lists of math skills needed in various industries, posted
by professionals in those industries.
