This meeting is concurrent with the 2008 Spring Conference at Kutztown University .

• Meeting called to order at 5:06pm.
  Present: Bloomsburg -- Bob Montante ; Millersville -- David Hutchens ; California -- Lisa Kovalchick ; Clarion -- Jon O'Donnell ; Indiana -- Soundararajan Ezekiel ; Kutztown -- Joo Tan ; Lock Haven -- Susan H. Strayer ; West Chester -- Afrand Agah .
• Meeting minutes for Jan. 2008 were approved with spelling corrections.
• Announcements included a question about schools conducting faculty searches. Kutztown and Clarion both had one position to fill. Salary offers were reported to be hindering acceptance.
• Conference issues:
  • Only 6 paper reviewers volunteered, so each reviewer had seven papers. Joo Tan suggested requiring one reviewer from each school, with submitted papers distributed to Board members for assignment to faculty at each school.
  • One reviewer made no comments in the reviews.
  • The schedule of programming contest versus student papers got one complaint, from an unhappy paper submitter.
  • About 20 papers were submitted. (Discussion at this point reveal that West Chester has 13 faculty; IUP has nine and is losing one; and has had two failed searches. IUP's enrollment has dropped dramatically.)
  • The editorial board selected 15 papers, but a different acceptance list was announced. There was sentiment that the ed. board's chair didn't communicate well with the other members. The editorial policy needs better emphasis in the future.
  • A question was raised about the most time-consuming aspect. A timeline for the editorial board will be established that fits into the academic calendar(s).
  • Kutztown recommended Edinboro as the 2011 host.
  • The conference budget was ``not in the red yet.''
  • Conference attendance was at 109, including some from non-PASSHE schools.
• The conference location list was brought up. Slippery Rock is scheduled for 2009, but had no one at the conference to confirm. West Chester, scheduled for 2010, felt unable to advance to the 2009 slot. IUP agreed to take 2011 if necessary; Millersville agreed to take an upcoming slot.
• A slate of office nominations was drawn up for the general meeting, as follows:
  • for Chair: David Hutchens
  • for Vice Chair: Soundararajan Ezekiel
  • for Treasurer: Susan Strayer
  • for Secretary: Robert Montante
  The slate was approved via implicit vote.
• The Treasurer's report was delivered, and accepted. No hint of the impending world financial crises was evident.

  Invoices for 2008 membership dues were distributed.

• Other business and discussion:
  • The PACISE web site was briefly discussed. It should have at least a list of the individual conference sites, with links to conference materials.
  • A question was raised about other programming contests. The CCSC conferences are possibilities.
• The meeting adjourned at 6pm.
