Lock Haven University of PA
Friday, September 18, 2009
- (Meeting called to order prior to 4:30pm.)
Present: Bloomsburg -- Bob Montante
; California -- Lisa Kovalchick ; Edinboro -- Joseph Molnar
; Indiana -- Soundararajan Ezekiel
; Kutztown -- Yong Zhang ; Lock Haven -- Susan H. Strayer
; Millersville -- David Hutchens ;
Shippensburg -- Dave Mooney ; Slippery Rock -- Bernie Zhou
Hongbo ; West Chester -- Afrand Agah
; Harrisburg University -- Joe Cannon . - Previous minutes were distributed by email; corrections were offered. The secretary is/was late, so September minutes are incomplete.
- The Treasurer's report shows a balance of $7495.94.
- Plans for the West Chester conference were discussed.
- The Call for Papers is basically ready, needing updated contact information.
- The Editorial board consists of Dave Mooney, Afrand Agah (as the local representative), and Bernie Zhou.
- The conference website needs to be updated. This is Bernie's issue; Raj Ezekiel will pass a list of Board members to him.
- Harrisburg University membership:
- HU received Middle States accreditation in July. Among many other benefits, they now have a .edu domain,
HarrisburgU.edu.
- Some HU students may want to submit papers or posters to the conference. A template file and formatting requirements are available. The CFP will include links to these.
- HU's program is called "Computer Information Science". It is in a new buildng at 4th and Market Streets (in Harrisburg?). The student body has substantial inner-city, Hispanic, African-American, and commuter members; few on-campus residents.
- Recommend to the general meeting that HU be offered membership: moved and seconded, approved without dissent.
- Other business and discussion:
- Raj mentioned that the ASEE website lists grants and fellowships available for Computer Science faculty, with student involvement possible. Their website is
asee.org.
- Book vendors were mentioned as possible sponsors for conferences.
- West Chester is reported to be a very nice area, and we should plan to stay awhile.
- The January meeting will include video conferencing hosted by Lock Haven, on the 3rd Friday. PASSHE scheduling requirements mean it must start at 3pm, to conclude by 4:30pm.
- The meeting adjourned at 5:10pm.
Respectfully submitted,
R A Montante
PACISE Secretary
