GINGERBREAD

 

1 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

1 cup light molasses

2 eggs

3 cups flour

½ tea. salt

1½ tea. baking soda

1 tea. ground ginger

1 tea. ground cinnamon

1 cup hot water

cream

 

     Combine the first four ingredients; mix well.  Combine the dry ingredients; add to molasses mixture alternately with hot water.  Pour into a greased 13X9” baking pan.  Bake at 350` for 35-40 min. or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.  Cool on wire rack.  Serve with cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on the cream.
