THUMBPRINT COOKIES

 

1/3 cup sugar

½ cup butter or margarine

1 egg, divided

1 cup flour

½ cup nuts, finely ground

jelly

 

     Cream sugar and butter.  Add egg yolk; beat well.  Work in flour.  Shape into balls.  Beat egg white.  Dip each ball into beaten egg white.  Then roll in nuts and push in center.  Bake 350’ for 5 min.; remove from oven and push in center again.  Put small amount of jelly in center.  Bake about 10 min.

 

SESAME SEED COOKIES

 

1 cup margarine

¼ cup sugar

1 tea. almond extract

1/8 tea. salt

2 cups flour

sesame seeds, about ¾ of box

strawberry preserves

 

     Cream margarine and sugar.  Blend in almond extract and salt.  Add flour; mix well.  Shape tablespoonful of dough into a ball and roll in sesame seeds.  Place on ungreased cookie sheets.  Indent center and fill with preserves.  Bake 400’ for 10 to 12 min. or until just beginning to brown.  Makes about 3 doz.
